The award-winning Wildflower! Performing Songwriter contest encourages the growth of the art of independent performing singer-songwriters. The genres include Acoustic, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Celtic, Country and Folk. Some of our past finalists include Ruthie Foster, Jack Hardy, Christopher Williams, Beth Wood, Erik Balkey and Karen Mal.
The Singer Songwriter Stage is located in the Bank of America Theatre within the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts.
2012 Contest Details
The 16th Annual Wildflower! Singer Songwriter Contest is now accepting up to 300 entries!
The Wildflower! Singer Songwriter Contest offers:
- Four (4) $500 cash prizes (including one for the title of "Michael Terry People's Choice Award" from audience judging)
- An opportunity to spend a weekend sharing songs with some of the best performing songwriters in the nation!
- An invitation to perform on the Bud Light Stage for recognition and CD sales (top 20 entrants)
- Lodging for May 18 and 19, 2012
- Festival Passes
- Access to the Green Room for the top 10 finalists on May 18 and 19, 2012
Genres: Acoustic, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Celtic, Country and Folk
Fair Screening Process:
- All entries are subjected to a blind and independent screening by five (5) experienced music promoters, songwriters and educators familiar with original songwriting and performing techniques.
- The screeners come to consensus by independent voting that selects 10 of the entrants to compete at the festival on Saturday morning, May 19, 2012.
- The contest is a performing songwriting contest. The entries will be judged based on the craft of their songs (50%) and the artist's presentation of their songs (50%).
